While dental emergencies are typically stressful situations, when you know what to do, it's not as overwhelming. Your first step is to remain calm, next is to contact your team at AllDent Dental Center. We're here for you, and today we are going to give you some tips on handling the 3 most common dental emergencies so you don't have to feel overwhelmed.

A Broken or Chipped Tooth

If your tooth breaks, it will need immediate repair in order to avoid further damage. Bring as many pieces of your tooth as you can to Dr. Chung, and he will assess your condition and discuss with you the options you have for the best treatment to repair your tooth.

If your tooth just sustains a small chip, give our office a call anyway. While you may not need immediate attention, your tooth should be smoothed in order to avoid irritating your cheeks or soft tissues. Small chips can also create access points for bacteria to enter the pulp of your tooth and set the stage for infection.

Dental Pain

If you are experiencing dental pain or a constant toothache, act quickly because this likely indicates a dental infection. Please don't wait to call us thinking that this will go away on its own, as dental infections will only progress and could lead to tooth loss. Root canal therapy may preserve your tooth if you call us for treatment right away.

A Knocked-Out Tooth

Time is of the essence when you have a tooth knocked out. Dr. Chung has the best chance of preserving your tooth if he sees you within the first hour or two after your injury or accident. Try not to handle your tooth too much, and transport it carefully. Place it back in its socket if you can. If not, use milk to keep the cells moist and alive while you get to our office.
