It started off with sensitivity to your cold drink, but it went away. Probably no reason to call the dentist - right? You didn't think twice about it until your tooth woke you up during the night with a severe ache! Now you need a root canal, and you're not sure what to expect. The good news is that AllDent Dental Center is here to help.

What is a Root Canal?

When the pulp, or nerve of your tooth becomes infected, root canal therapy is necessary to remove the infected tissue and keep it from spreading and causing further damage. This is accomplished through a small access hole in the top of your tooth. Once the infection is removed, we'll seal the hole with a temporary filling and give your tooth time to heal. After healing is completed, you'll return to our office so Dr. Chung can restore your tooth with a permanent filling or crown.

Does this Procedure Hurt?

Root canals often suffer the stigma of being painful. This reputation is unfair since it's actually your infection causing the pain, and not the root canal. During your procedure, your comfort is our top priority, and Dr. Chung uses the best dental anesthetics to ensure that you don't feel anything during your treatment. In fact, most patients are immediately relieved when the anesthetic eliminates their pain. Dr. Chung is gentle and highly skilled, and patients are pleasantly surprised at how easy and smooth root canal therapy can actually be.

If you're experiencing dental pain, don't wait until it gets better on its own! A root canal in Poway may be just what you need, and you should contact our office right away to be treated. We'll get you feeling comfortable and back on the path to wellness again in no time.
