Losing a tooth can be an upsetting and overwhelming experience, especially if it is easily noticed when you talk, smile, or laugh. Not only can missing teeth ruin your smile, it can also be detrimental to your oral health. Yet, with implant dentistry, we can replace the missing tooth with a natural looking and functioning crown. At AllDent Dental Center, we specialize in implant dentistry and offer our patients in the 92064 area the best and most current in implant technology.

Implant Dentistry

Implant dentistry uses a titanium implant that is placed directly into the bone where the root of the missing tooth used to be. Once the implant has healed and fused to the jaw bone, a crown will be attached to the top of the implant. These crowns are usually made with a porcelain composite material so they match the shade of your existing teeth while also being strong and functional. Generally, once the crown is in place, you won’t be able to tell it isn’t a natural tooth.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Sturdiness – Because the implant is placed into the jaw bone, they are more sturdy than other tooth replacement procedures. They also don’t rely on surrounding teeth to be filed down in order to be used as a support for the crown, meaning less damage to your healthy teeth.
  • Saves the bone – When a tooth falls out, whether it is due to trauma or poor dental hygiene, the bone where the tooth used to be will start to degenerate as the body redistributes the calcium. Implants will trick the body into thinking there is still a tooth there and will keep the bone strong and healthy.
  • More natural – Other replacement procedures, such as dental bridges, use the two surrounding teeth as a support for the middle crown. Two outer crowns are attached to the neighboring teeth to hold the middle crown in place. Yet, because there are no gaps, they can look less natural than a single crown and also be more difficult to clean.
